I tried both RHEL install guides from the Chef website and couldn’t get either to work after 2 days. Came here and had it up and running in about 15 minutes.

Hey Max, not sure what’s going on there.

Mixing rubygems from different RHEL repos may be the cause. If possible, remove all the rubygem-* packages and install only from RBEL.

Let me know if that works.

I’m also getting chef-server dead but pid file exists.

This is what happens when I try to run chef with the above posted gist:

Sure, I will.

Bear in mind that 0.10.8 doesn’t fix/add anything for linux users so you can safely install 0.10.6. Nothing to gain with 0.10.8.

Are you going to support 10.8? Please so, as your system ruby provides selinux support that the Opscode omnibus ruby does not.

Works great on Linux Mint 12.

You should add support for Bonjour via avahi-daemon and UpStart config for start with system boot from this site: http://wiki.birth-online.de/know-how/hardware/apple-iphone/airvideo-server-linux

Apparently, the server is running but not it’s WebUI (no logs in /var/log/chef/server-webui.log). I started it manually and it works now. Thanks.

I am new in homebrew. I have configured homebrew in linux. it is working like (brew –version and brew –cache)

Please let me know, how to build the nginx package with brew formula.

a, I have run the command brew create nginx and I have typed the formula.

b, While run the command, I am getting error.
